A Day in Bridgehampton
Had an amazing day visiting long time friend and mentor Eddie Leida at his summer home in Bridgehampton. It was hubs and I's first time in the Hampton's and surprisingly, the drive east was pretty nice—two hours one way, to and from the city. Eddie was the most gracious host to say the least. With two other friends over, he cooked us the most delicious artisanal pizzas we have ever tasted, using local ingredients from farmer's markets in town. We relaxed in his absolutely stunning contemporary classical home drinking wine, where I awed over every detail of his home. We also went over to the stables to see some gorgeous (and the most gentle) horses, drove through the posh Bridge Golf Club, and walked around the quaint town of Sag Harbour. I can't believe we've waited this long to visit and only spent half a day there! But I really couldn't have asked for a better summer Sunday afternoon. There is so much more to explore though and despite what they say about the Hampton's, it is so beautiful and enriched with being classical American, it truly is the perfect getaway from the busy streets of Manhattan.
Note to self: next visit must include Parish Art Museum and going to the beaches of Montauk!
