Amalfi & Ravello
It was an extremely windy drive along the Amalfi Coast from Casa Angelina in Praiano, out east to explore the other towns. We heard so much about Ravello being the most quaint and beautiful town, so we knew we had to make that our final destination that afternoon (although it is cliffside and by car is the only way to get there!). We hired a taxi driver for the afternoon, who was kind enough to be our tour guide and show us all the best view points and beaches along the way. Our first stop in Amalfi was an expected tourist town, so we were there for about half an hour as it was very crowded. As soon as we arrived in Ravello, we had lunch at Hotel Villa Maria (make sure you book a table with the incredible sea views!). What took my breath away however were the views of Scala, which felt like it was right out an old fairytale. Villa Cimbrone, one of the most prestigious hotels in the area, was a bit further in, and was highly recommended to us to enjoy the gardens—and yes indeed, magical it was! It holds “the most beautiful flowers imaginable” and is considered among the most important examples of the English landscape and botany culture in the South of Europe.
Stayed tuned for the last of my Amalfi Coast blog series, Capri.
